Very early 1964 Gibson ES-335 TDC with factory fitted Bigsby. Last owner of some 30 years was a UK session guitarist who toured with the likes of the Kinks and it is a very cool guitar….

It has been a working guitar all its life so do not expect an under the bed find however, it has not suffered any breaks or repairs or any finish issues at all. It even amazingly still has its original frets and nibs which are in fine condition. Last owner of 30 years used .9’s and really knew his way around the fingerboard hence spreading the fret wear. It does have some wear on the back and on the back of the neck where it is in places worn down to the wood plus various dings all over. Have a good look at the many photos in our picture gallery to get the best idea of the condition.

All original pots date to 44th week of 1963 and serial number places it in early 1964 so this is a true crossover 1963/4 guitar. It has its original PAT Number pickups fitted, both have had their covers off then on and one has had a rewind. All the rest of the hardware is correct or original including the single line, double ring Kluson tuners that have been re-tipped.

Original ‘Custom Made’ plaque is in great condition and it does have the stop tailpiece anchors underneath so if you decide you would prefer to have a ‘64 stop tail with a Bigsby snake bite, then this guitar will happily oblige. 

As you would expect, being a working guitar that has been played and loved by the same owner for such a long time it is well setup and is a real joy to play and hold. It feels comfortable, very comfortable and we are sure the next owner will like it just as much as the last…
