Gibson / ES-335TDN / 1968 / Blonde/Natural / Guitar

This is a bit of a three legged dog but it still barks pretty loud. At first glance it sure looks like an ES-340 but those didn't come out until 1969.
This is a 68 ES-335 with a birch top (not maple) and a maple neck (with a long tenon). I've never seen a 68 like this and I would have argued with the previous owner that its probably just a 340 that was converted to 335 spec. The label is in there but its faded so I can't read it. But then he had the original sales receipt (not a copy) with serial number from Sam Ash in Brooklyn dated 7/20/68. End of argument. It's a 68 with the original hang tag that even says ES-335TDN and the word "birch". There are some mods. It had a misplaced stop tail. Now it has a "Custom Made" plaque covering the bushings and is back to being a trapeze. Feel free to put the stop back on. It just looks funny. The pickups were late 70's T-tops and sounded less than great so I put a Pearly Gates in the bridge and a burstbucker in the neck. Much better, thank you. I'll include the t-tops. It had Schallers and now it has late 60's Klusons. It's a great looker with lots of character and it sounds really good too. I took off the witch hat knobs but they are included. Newer hard case-probably 80's
