Gibson / ES-345 / 1959 / Sunburst / Guitar
Not just a '59 ES-345 but a so-called "first rack" 345. These are different from later 345's and are highly prized by those in the know. What's different? The necks are the largest you will find on any 345. They are .88 at the first fret and over an inch at the 12th. Virtually identical to a 58 ES-335. And the pickups? One zebra PAF and one double black. What else is different? The rout for the Varitone is smaller and the bridge pickup has short leg to compensate for the height of the VT choke. This one has had a set of repro Klusons installed but the original single line single ring ones are included. The tips are shrunken as is usual for 59s. Still stereo, still has its Varitone, still has its original frets. There has been some work done to the harness, however-the shielding cans have been removed and some additional grounding appears to have been added. Condition is excellent. Nice brown Gibson case.
