Gibson / ES-345 TDSV / 1960 / Cherry Red / Guitar

1960 long guard Gibson ES-345 TDSVC in lovely condition and sporting one of most figured, gorgeous, cherry red tops we have seen for some time. This is a transition ES-345 having a long guard, reflector knobs and medium (not super skinny) neck profile, much like a typical late 1959 neck..

Factory fitted with a Bigsby from new together with a ‘Custom Made’ plaque containing stud anchors underneath so if you really want to, you can ditch the Bigsby and play with a stop tail without adding any extra holes to the guitar but hey… what’s wrong with a Bigsby?

This guitar is all correct apart from the cover of the neck pickup has been off and on again. Since the solder on this had already been disturbed, we took a peek inside and can confirm it is an original long magnet PAF Patent Applied For pickup, which has not been rewound. The cover may have been off to flip the magnet which is common occurrence for folk who wish to use the guitar in mono.

The bridge pickup is totally unmolested and is also an original, long magnet PAF. Both these pickups are very hot with readings of 9.2k and 8.7k. They sound amazing too and everyone who has popped in to the store who has had a go on this, are pretty much blown away by the sound of this beauty.

All other hardware, finish and electrics are totally correct. There has been no touch ups or overspray and as you can see by the many pics in the gallery tab, it is in very nice condition indeed. The top especially is a real stunner and it is not that often we see such lovely figuring like this. No breaks or repairs either which is just the way we like it.

Neck is very comfortable to play and frets have some decent meat left. It is set up very well with a good low action and like some of the best vintage ES guitars out there it almost plays itself.

Case is correct black early 60’s type with the large grain. Handle is broken at one end of its fixing so if you intend to carry it around in this case a lot, you may want to look at getting this re-attached.

A really, really great guitar from Gibson’s golden years that will not disappoint in any way whatsoever. I have a feeling it is probably not going to last that long. The top alone sort of sells it fairly well.
