Gibson / ES-5 / 1954 / Sunburst / Guitar
This is one of the nicest examples of a SUPERB 1954 Gibson ES-5 pre Switchmaster arch top guitar complete with original Lifton brown case and original tag we’ve ever seen this one has the fairly rare and desirable quite flamed carved maple top and back and it really does take your breath away when you first open the case...
Please have a good look at the photos you will see for yourself the excellent condition this guitar is in. There are just a few marks here and there but nothing serious at all, there is also some mild fine checking all over but the finish has not faded at all. Even the original Lifton brown/pink case is in superb condition as is the original tag with matching serial number. Everything, apart from the tailpiece (which always breaks on these) as far as I can tell is original, including tuners, electrics, hardware and finish and it really is a beauty. The original rosewood bridge has had the common upgrade to a 60’s gold tunomatic.
All electrics work great, the action is amazing and the guitar is a real joy to play with it’s fast rosewood fingerboard. Original frets are in great condition too as it has probably had flats fitted all of it’s life and there is no fingerboard wear.
Very rare model too - most of the ES 5’s have little or mild flame, this one is a lot stronger than most and just looks.. stunning! I do think you would be hard pressed to find a finer example of a 1954 ES-5
