This is a very nice example of a SUPERB late 1958 Gibson ES-5 Switchmaster arch top guitar 100% original complete with original brown Lifton case and 3x un-molested long magnet 1959 PAF's this one has a neck profile like you would expect a 59 to be rather than the chunky 58 so I guess it must be a fairly late 1958 build and it does have a late ’T’ FON number inside.

Please have a good look at the photos you will see for yourself the excellent condition this guitar is in. There are a few marks here and there and some checking but nothing serious at all, there is also the usual wear on the gold plating but there is very little play wear and the neck still has a good finish. Even the original Lifton brown/pink case is in good, but used condition. This one has a beautiful ebony fingerboard which I think must have been an option on the ES-5 as most we have seen (apart from one other) have had rosewood fingerboards.

All electrics work great, the action is amazing and the guitar is a real joy to play with it’s fast ebony fingerboard and flat wound strings. There is no fingerboard wear at all and I do not think it has had a very hard life! All hardware and finish is 10% original with the exception of the little screw that attaches the pickguard bracket to the side. These often wear loose and fall out.

3 x long magnet 1959 type PAF’s sound awesome, each with it’s individual volume and tone control. PAF’s are undisturbed and have never had their covers off. You can achieve a HUGE variety of sounds from it’s three pickups - from warm jazz to biting rockabilly and everything in between.. A very underrated guitar and at the moment, it is a bargain in the vintage marketplace.
