Gibson / ES335 / 1961 / Guitar

Just a while ago we traded in a Gibson 1961 Reissue ES335 and much to our surprise a couple of days later a genuine vintage 1961 ES335 in cherry finish arrived! Many believe that these early versions of the Gibson ES-335 are the holy grail of semi-hollowbody guitars. This 1961 is sort of the perfect ES-335 because it combined 1950's looks with 1960's playability. She still has the body with 'Mickey-Mouse' ears and dot inlays on the fingerboard, but with a binding around the fingerboard, a 60s neck profile with 42mm (1 5/8") nutwidth, the short pickguard and reflector buttons. This is a stunning specimen in Very Good condition showing the expected beautiful weather checking in the finish and signs of use. The two pickups are original PAF Patent Applied For humbuckers which sound great and come in at 7.8K for the bridge and 8.3K for the neck. Playability is great thanks to the professional refret this guitar has had. The newer Kluson style tuners, slightly later but still 60s ABR-1 bridge and original stopbar keep it nicely in tune. The volume- and tone pots of the neck pickup have been replaced in late 1977 (1377738), but the bridge volume- and tone pots are original dating back to early 1961 (1346104). This instrument is both a great collectors piece and a player which is just the way we like them! Included is the original hardshell case. ABOUT US

I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
