There are some guitars that make a statement even before the first note is pulled out of them. You can be in a club or at a concert and the guitarist walks onto the stage, straps his axe on and you immediately know that there is some serious bidness about to take place. This '63 reissue Firebird I is just such an instrument and once over your shoulder, no words need to be spoken between the player and the audience. All he has to do is lean back, crank the volume knob to 10, do what he does and the understanding is immediate. Simply put, this guitar just screams baddass and incidentally was the 42nd Firebird I to be produced in 1999. Arguably, the most famous guitarist to wear on one of these guitars was Eric Clapton during the Blind Faith period. His use and preference for certain vintage guitars is widely acknowledged to span the gamut, from Blackie to his iconic ES-335 and for the most part, that's all I knew too until doing research on this guitar. Come to find out, Eric had a penchant for a '63 Firebird I and after listening to some of the old Blind Faith stuff, I have gathered a new respect for the instrument and their music. This particular guitar is Gibson's 1999 reissue of that early 60s beast and appears to hold true to the original. It's in excellent condition and plays like wicked wood.
