Gibson / Flying V (repro) / 1958 / Natural / Guitar
Gibson has reissued the Flying V a few times and never seems to get it right. There have also been a number of independent luthiers who have made custom V's and some are quite good. This one was made by Brian Monty in Canada probably in the mid 90's. The wood is 70 year old Korina (Limba) and the construction is true to the original 58's. But it goes beyond that. There are some seriously valuable parts on this guitar. Early gold patent number pickups with correct M69 rings, 58 Centralab pots, 58 black bonnet knobs, vintage (pat #) gold ABR-1 and late 60's double line gold Kluson (Gibson) Deluxe tuners. In fact the only parts that aren't vintage are the truss cover, pick guard, logo and 3 way. The parts alone are worth more than $3000. I will sell this guitar as is or as a husk (includes the guard, tailpiece and bridge studs) since I can always use the parts if you don't require vintage.
