RARE! Gibson Les Paul Mark Knopfler VOS 1958 Reissue * Stunning * Light Weight * Low serial * Case + Candy * 58 * R8 *

Originally pre-ordered from a Gibson main dealer here in the UK. Difficult to get hold of at the time as demand far outnumbered supply. The eventual purchasers where those lucky enough to be drawn from a ballot!

Not in mint condition as the previous owner (first owner) had an issue that caused a reaction with the lacquer. This is only present in some areas of the finish (areas of the lower bout / back and sides). As a result there are some affected areas in the lacquer and she comes with a 2019 direct replacement Custom Shop hard case.

Everything else is factory spec/issue, including all the original candy etc (i.e. cert, tags, warranty and Custom Shop toggle switch back plate).

Overall she is in very good condition, not mint, meaning she can still be played/enjoyed yet still retain the status of a highly collectable guitar.

Gibson really nailed it with this run. This guitar in particular is super light-weight, weighing in at well under 9lbs (approx 8.6lbs with no weight relief). This makes for a resonant, comfortable, well balanced and superior sounding instrument - in keeping with an original burst.

In terms of looks... the Maple top is beautiful with subtle figuring that moves and changes depending upon the viewing angle. The vintage finish is also stunning and a true accurate representation of Mark Knopfler's own faded '58 burst.

The best part is that she sounds even better than she looks. The premium woods combined with Gibson's vintage spec wiring and custom wound PAFs result in an outstanding vintage LP tone (the best IMHO) - I recommend viewing the Gibson promotional video featuring Mark Knopfler playing/discussing these very guitars - I'm sure you will agree that these LPs are just a bit special.

Despite the popularity of Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits (over 100 million album sales), for some reason Gibson decided to keep production numbers low, with a total run of only 300 instruments. 50 aged/signed, 100 aged and 150 VOS.

Without doubt, the Knopfler '58 Reissue is one of the best, most rare and desirable reissues Gibson have produced to date. Many are in the hands of collectors / Knopfler enthusiasts so they almost never come up for sale.

With prices rising increasingly, this is a great opportunity to own a beautiful and desirable instrument... a nice investment too!
