It's a sad thing to say, but I've only seen the Allman Brothers one time and it was later on in their career- long after Dickey had left the band. But, like most purists I love their older stuff and "Live at the Fillmore" is among my top five records of all time. Great album, period. So, as we look at all of the signature reissues Gibson has produced, Dickey's Goldie and these Red Tops hold a special place with us because they were issued in honor of the work of a Southern Rock guitarist. Of course, the story of how Mr. Betts stripped down his old '57 is well known and these reproductions of that very guitar are pretty darn close. This particular Betts Les Paul is a collector's delight because of the condition of the guitar and completeness of the package. We've sold several of these Red Tops and this #008 is the lowest number of the 55 made to ever ease into the 'Elkcave. The special '57 neck and belly carve are unique to these guitars, making them exceptionally comfortable to play and it is just one of those guitars that you have a hard time putting down. That said, we didn't put this one through any heavy paces- it's too clean. We just had our tech, Supa Jake check it out and give it a very light workout, just so we could confirm that the guitar plays and sounds as nice as we expected.
