Gibson Historic Division / Les Paul R8 ** ON HOLD ** / 2009 / Cherry Sunburst / Guitar
8 lbs, 13 oz of sweet, full- necked, NOS R8 tone. That's what you'll be getting when you make the call on this virtually unplayed, 4 year- old stunner. There's nuthin' fancy (blatant Skynyrd reference) about the guitar- it's just a combination of two humbuckers and you, which we think is the secret formula for greatness. We pick our R8s for their tone, weight and overall vibe- the axe has got to feel right when you strap it on and so, when it came time to consider this one at the Charlotte Guitar show, I called in the "One who walks in the night", or Lee, as he known to most people of planet Earth. "Whatcha think of this one? I asked. "The weight's good and the neck feels nice". Lee had a mouth full of barbecue sammich, so all I got was a shrug. "Naw son, check it out. I like it and it ain't heavy. And, it ain't my brother." I said. That's cheap comedy between us and the reference to an old Hollies song contains code words that means I want Lee to stop munching on that swine and take a serious look at what I am holding. So, with a roll of his one good eye, he puts down his sammich, wipes his hands on his shirt and takes a hold of this R8. He flips it over, moves it up and down to see if I was correct about the weight (I was close- I blind guessed at 8 lbs, 10 oz) and looks at the case to make sure the guitar doesn't "come with a gigbag". How many times have we heard that sentence, right? Having confirmed that the package is to our standards and is complete, ol' Tall One takes another bite of his heavenly hog sammich and with a full mouth, says "Pay the man". That's it, Elks. That's how simple it can be to acquire one of the nicest R8s to come out of North Carolina and present to you here. It's what I refer to as a "no muss, no fuss" deal and it's also what you'll receive when you consider us as the place to get your guitar on. Being from the South, we don't get too riled up about much and specialize in the no- hassle, laid- back deal you want. Give us a call and find out for yourselves!
