To the untrained eye, this guitar looks like a heavily flamed R9 and that is exactly what I thought it was on first sight. Lee opened the case and we both said "Dang", but since I have the control issues, I reached for it first. Two things immediately struck me: First, this wasn't no R9- the neck is too full and secondly, this is the lightest Les Paul I have ever picked up. Lee just chuckled at me and said, "It's a chambered R8, you chucklehead and it's a damn cool one at that." I had to agree- this is one mighty fine guitar and we both felt that it belonged right here at the 'Elk, amongst the other finery you see day in and day out. As I read in an email concerning the guitar, the flame isn't quite a BBQ or fiddleback example, but it's certainly as good or better than that on many of the R9's we get in here. Every detail of this instrument just shouts "excellence" and the exceptionally fine condition speaks of how well it's been cared for. Guitars may come and they may go, but we always remember the ones that stand out- if you've been thinking about getting one of these guitars and the Summer vacation is in the can, give us a shout on what certainly must be one of the finest chambered R8's on the planet.
