Many of you know that we go through Les Pauls around here like a running chainsaw through a bale of hay. Not to say that any of our guitars are "lesser thans", because we are pretty danged peculiar when it comes to choosing the ones we want to offer but every once in a blue moon, we get a special piece in that gets our attention in a big way. Take this '07 R9: We bought the guitar without even seeing it in person- we actually only saw a few pictures. It was down at the Historic Makeovers factory and without paint. The first thing that popped us in the jaw was the exceptional, one- piece top and once we got a look at that, it was love at first sight. We then custom- ordered the stunning Bourbon "Elk" Burst and now that we've got the guitar in hand, the color is even deeper and more vibrant than expected. Sometimes, you hold an R9 in your hands and there is just nothing wrong with it: Rather, everything feels right. The guitar has had the $3975.00 Historic Makeovers RDS packsge applied, but we decided not to age the guitar. It's like a NOS, gloss finish instead.     Simply put, Kim and the boys at HM have taken an already exceptional guitar and made it even better. It weighs in at 8 lbs, 9 oz, so you know that even the weight has been 'Elk- approved.
