Gibson / J-45 Sunburst, Mahogany - Spruce / 1950 / Guitar

Gibson J-45 (1950) sunburst, Mahogany - Spruce, Case, VG/EC

it's always big fun when one of these old J-45 lands on our doorstep, and trying it out after we unpacked it, every single one is different, but all are very good guitars with that a certain unmistakable vintage woody tone that makes them magic in a way. This one for instant is not the loudest we ever played, but the headroom is making up for that. It simply doesn't end sounding good how hard you strum it. And that's a great quality. The Fon number reads #4050-7, making it the 7th of batch 4050, putting it somewhere in 1949-1950. It features all original sunburst finish, Honduras mahogany back/sides, red spruce top, like all vintage J-45 it's very light in weight, Brazilian Rosewood fretboard, original 3 on a plate kluson double line tuners, bound top and back, adjustable truss rod, moderate C shaped Honduras mahogany neck with 43.6mm (1 23/32") width at the nut (halsbreedte/Halsbreitte), 628mm (24.3/4") scale length(mensuur/Mensur), Condition check: Despite the impressive weather checking this guitar is in Crack-free condition except for 2 relatively small (approx. 3-5cm) repaired side-cracks on the treble side and one of the bass side. There are no cracks to the back or the top, and the guitar is actually very clean for it's age. Some braces are re-glued, and the original bridge is shaved a little like on most older J-45. Also there is a smug above the bridge that might create the impression that the bridge has been of, we don't think so, it's a typical reaction to the glue under the bridge. All finish is original, there is no retouch and the guitar plays with (very) low action and has enough meat on the saddle to compensate the action for many years ahead. Frets are replaced and in good condition. It's now strung with 11's and sounds everything like a vintage J-45 should sound like, matured and percussive powerful. But with 12's it would be even more powerful. Comes with a case. With original bill that it is was in Europe before 1992 making the Brazilian rosewood fretboard also legal on the guitar.

ABOUT US

I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
