Gibson / J45 ADJ Faded Cherry Red / 1968 / Guitar

Introduced in 1942 as a replacement for the J35, the J45 has since become one of Gibson's most popular acoustic flattops. Often referred to as "The Workhorse," this model is a favourite among singer-songwriters, folk artists and rock musicians for its versatility and reliable performance. The warm and woody sound of the older J45s is enchanting, and this 1968 Gibson J45 ADJ is a prime example. What makes the 1968 Gibson J45 special is the transitional period in which it was produced. It combines features of the early J45 models with some of the modernisations introduced later in the 1960s. The guitar features a solid Sitka spruce top, which together with the mahogany back and sides provides a rich, resonant sound with excellent projection. As the type designation ADJ suggests, this J45 is equipped with the adjustable rosewood bridge that became standard on the model from 1961 onwards, and further features a screwed cream-coloured pickguard that must have been white in a grey past. This J45 was built in 1968 and has sustained play marks and weather checking over the years, so the guitar has obviously been a much-loved instrument over its five-plus decades of operation. The Cherry Red finish has faded in the process, resulting in a beautifully weathered look, this guitar has obviously been through a few things! Some cracks have been repaired on the top and the back, with cleats added in various places. The guitar is equipped with 2.7 mm wide fret wire, and still has the original tuning machines. With a worn-in sound and a weathered appearance, this beautiful vintage J45 is undoubtedly ready for a new musical adventure! Played by Tom Punt | Demo Gear: Ear Trumpet Labs Evelyn Stereo Microphone

ABOUT US

I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
