Gibson / Kalamazoo Recording King, Carson J. Robinson Jumbo J-185 Style / 1937 / Guitar

Gibson Kalamazoo Recording King, Carson J. Robinson Jumbo (ca. 1937) J-185 style Jumbo, original Case

Gibson-Kalamazoo Recording King Carson J Robison Model K “Jumbo”, wooow what a guitar, big punchy strong sound, really a mighty guitar, that is obviously closely related to the nowadays priceless 1930's Gibson J-185! Really one hell of a guitar, and one of those depression era brands Gibson put on the market, featuring Spruce top, likely Adirondack, solid mahogany back and sides, this guitar is totally original including bridge, original Grover 3-on-a-plate tuners,  hand rubbed sunburst finish. One of the largest Guitars Gibson made back in the 1930's.  Honduars mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard, black Peghead with Recording King & Carson J. Robinson in script logo, block letter 'Model K', and custom initials 'J' of the first Owner.  Curious detail, Gibson offered the possibility to “personalize” with the owners initials. The guitar is wonderful condition, all original sunburst finish,  neck reset with new compensated saddle with perfect intonation, original bridge, a few superficial cracks and two on top are repaired in a professional way, The FON number on the heel-block is very unclear, but specs make it likely a mid thirties to late thirties example, nice original fire-stripe pickguard. The innerbracing is original and there is a short flat brace added under the fingerboard extension, you can take it out any time you like but i'm sure you won't.. this guitar truly sound great, if you want to know what 'opened up' means, play this one, it's airy, open, warm, big and lush, strummed it sounds wonderful but its at its best played fingerstyle or with your picked with your plectrum, yes the 61mm stringspacing at the bridge make it even a greater delight playing this guitar. I heard many guitar, but this one is special and i suspect it will stick to my mind for a long time to come. It travels what we believe might be the original case.

ABOUT US

I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
