This is a very good condition, original 1948 Gibson L-12 archtop jazz guitar with OHSC that plays really well and is all original as far as I can tell.
Quite a rare model, seldom seen the L-12 is like a cross between a L-7 and an L-5. It was the second in line down on the model hierarchy, the L-5 being the top and has L-7 inlays with an L-5 quilted maple back and sides and L-5 type gold plated fittings.
These were only made between 1932 and 1955.
Rare to see and lovely to behold, this superb and loud, bright acoustic arch top has the quintessential sound of the swing band era and will not break the bank (try finding a 1948 L-5 for 3.5k!)
It is in very good condition too, all finish is original, there is a slight, repaired crack on the back about 6” long (see pictures) but that is it. There are a few dings here and there plus a wear spot under the pickguard where it looks like the pickguard mounting has contacted the top but this is under the pickguard. All hardware is original including the pickguard and the open back gold Kluson tuners which are a rare find in themselves.
