Gibson / L0 Black / 1939 / Guitar For Sale

Gibson's L0 was part of Gibson's catalogue from 1926 to 1942, and disappeared from the scene for several years from 1933 to 1937. From the latter year, the model took its final form; a spruce top with black finish and a firestripe pickguard and a mahogany soundboard with double binding. The L0 was basically distinguished from the L00 by its double binding and black top, but because the L00 was also made with these specifications, these models are sometimes difficult to distinguish. The 1930s Gibsons have an unparalleled sound that has beautifully acquired a woody and dry character over the years. The model is characterised by its compact body with a narrow waist and wide lower half, which contributes to a surprisingly full and clear sound despite its modest size. Despite its small size, it also has quite a bit of volume in it, and its full and bright sound lends itself to both fingerstyle and light percussion. Thanks to the wide neck with V-profile, the guitar also plays wonderfully. The guitar has had a tumultuous existence, but has been restored to fine condition by skilled luthiers. Several holes have been filled on the top; two pickups were probably once mounted around the sound hole, and two other places probably once contained a volume knob and a switch. Furthermore, some cracks have been repaired on the top, as well as on the side of the body. Here, repairs have been made around the endpin and the place where the output of the electronics once was, as well as filled holes from the screws of a tailpiece. Cracks have also been repaired in several other places, and here the finish has also been touched up. The guitar further shows the weather checking and play marks that give vintage Gibsons their much-loved vintage look; unmatchable by any modern replica!

ABOUT US

I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
