Gibson / L5 Wes Montgomery Crimson Custom / 2014 / Guitar

2014 Gibson Crimson Custom L5 Wes Montgomery in near mint condition. As the custom shop has become more and more involved in standard production, it was not able to concentrate on custom orders well enough. Gibson solved this problem by starting a department within the Gibson custom division. They put together a small group of hand selected luthiers and Custom Crimson was born. The Custom Crimson division concentrates mostly on making carved top guitars. This beautiful Wes Montgomery L-5 in chique wine red is one of the first guitars we received from the Crimson division, and it has left a lasting impression on us. The build quality is beyond anything we've ever seen from the Custom Shop. Wes Montgomery relied on his faithful Gibson L-5 CES guitars. His original instruments were typically stock L-5s that came equipped with either Gibson's single coil P-90 or alnico pickups. Sometime in the early 1960s, however, as Montgomery's reputation continued to grow, he ordered a custom L-5 with a rounded cutaway - instead of the sharper Florentine cutaway - and a single humbucker pickup situated at the end of the fingerboard. It is this guitar that Montgomery is most associated with, and the guitar he played almost exclusively on many of his most important recordings of the 1960s, up until his untimely death from a heart attack in 1968. This Wes Montgomery L-5 built today by Gibson Custom Crimson is built to the same specifications as the instrument used by Montgomery in the 1960s.   The Wes Montgomery model features a high-grade spruce top, high-grade maple back and sides, multi-ply black and white binding on both the top and back, single-ply white binding around the f-holes, gold hardware, ABR-1 bridge with a base made from ebony, L-5 tailpiece, five-piece high-grade maple neck, ebony fingerboard with pearl block inlays and multi-ply black and white binding, '57 Classic pickups, Gibson's traditional flower pot inlay on the headstock, and Schaller M6 tuners. Includes original hardshell case and certificate of authenticity.

ABOUT US

I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
