Gibson / LG-2 / 1946 / Sunburst / Guitar
Gibson LG-2 Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar, c. 1946, made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, sunburst top, dark back and sides finish, mahogany back, sides and neck, spruce top, rosewood fingerboard, black hard shell case.
Overall length is 39 3/4 in. (101 cm.), 14 1/8 in. (35.9 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 1/2 in. (11.4 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 3/4 in. (44 mm.). This guitar has seen a lot of use and been well played for many years, but retains a cool vibe and a lot of character. There are several few repaired back cracks, and a long repaired split to the sides that goes through the endpin up through the bass side waist. The top has a lot of pickwear, some repair including a small patch to the soundhole edge and a visible repair to the front top seam. There is some odd looking spotty wear to the face of the headstock, and the tuners are 1970's Klusons. The bridge is original but taken down a bit with some wear and a small chip by the low e string pin. Overall this guitar is in well worn condition but still looks great in a smoky-bar sort of way and offers excellent sound and playability, a cool gigging 1940's just-post-banner Gibson. Very Good + Condition.
