Gibson / LG-3 LG-2 Banner Adirondack Spruce Mahogany / 1943 / Guitar
Gibson LG-3 LG-2 Banner (1943) Adirondack Spruce Mahogany, Case,
This is a bit of a mystery to me, a banner era LG-3 is a very rare guitar, only around 100 were made in 1942 and early 1943, and then again restarted after 1945, this guitar is almost certain 1943, and checking in with Willi Henkes he says the LG-3 only came with elaborate binding and soundhole inlay typical for the first LG series. So he suspects an old refin. Bridge and pickguard are clearly original, and the back, sides and neck show to my opinion signs of a very old overspray, since it glows up nicely greenish (like vintage finish does) under black-light. the top looks all original finish with crazing in the lacquer, and very nicely yellowed like a original finish would. The FON doesn't do much good either, i read something like 24xx- 3(likely #2430-3 according to my daughter with Hawk-eyes, but it's unclear) and there is a handwritten number on the back centre strip that doesn't seem to make any sense either, saying 5640-69 (?) So we are bit doubtful, is this a Late LG-3 or a refinished LG-2. Since I'm unable to proof one way or the other i decided to stick with Willi's Wisdom and say it's a 1943 LG-2, with a very old refin, and still a very attractive guitar, with a typical early skunk stripe in the neck and typicall early non-firestripe pickguard, the bridge is original and lacquered, it has been worked on and looks like it has been of and on the guitar again, it's shave a little, not to much, the pickguard looks like it's never been of the guitar. It features a Adirondack spruce top, Mahogany back and sides, maple neck with rosewood skunk stripe, Brazilian rosewood fretboard (with legal purchase papers), at one point it had a tailpiece and a few tiny cracks in the back, a pickguard crack and a binding crack, all repaired, it sounds like thunder and is very joyful guitar to play. With a solid flashy white case!

ABOUT US
I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
