Gibson / Les Paul Custom / 1970 / Black / Guitar For Sale

Cool early '70s Les Paul Custom in a sleek, timeless black finish... in our opinion one of the coolest looking guitars out there. This is an excellent sounding example in very good overall condition.

True to the period this one has the Maple-sandwich body construction, 3-piece Mahogany neck with volute and Made in USA stamp. Both original Patent No. humbuckers are in excellent condition with clean decals and slot-head screws. The treble pickup measures 7.66k ohms, and the neck pickup is at 7.6k ohms, delivering a rich, articulate sound with both warmth and bite when pushed. The pots appear original, with the one unobscurred code dating to 1970. The soldering and wiring all appears original and the guitar retains it's original black beauty capacitors.

While the guitar is in fantastic condition for its age, there have been a few changes over the years. The tuners have been changed to tulip Grovers which offer good tuning stability. The nut has been replaced and a professional refret has been carried out, ensuring excellent playability. The jack plate has been replaced and there is a small, superficial crack in the top between the volume and tone knobs, otherwise the guitar is in very good overall condition.

With its slim-medium C profile and refretted neck, this Les Paul is an excellent player, whether you're bending notes or chording in the lower registers. The balance of the pickups is excellent, giving you a full-bodied warmth for rhythm work and enough cut for lead playing. The tone has depth, with a rich, creamy midrange and sparkling highs, making it perfect for a wide range of genres.

Comes complete with its original red-lined 'chainsaw' case.
