Gibson / Les Paul Custom / 1981 / Silverburst / Guitar For Sale
Shh, don't tell Adam Jones but we snuck one out…
Produced in this finish between 1979 and 1982, the Silverburst is widely believed to have been adopted to commemorate the Silver anniversary (25th) of the Les Paul though this isn't clear. Between 150 and 200 are rumoured to have been produced but due to the fact Gibson never kept a record of the finishes applied, there is no way of really knowing for sure.
This guitar looks the part. The finish is in near MINT shape with no sign of fade or too much greenining. There are minor bumps and knocks but overall it's in so close to being labelled as MINT.
As with the body, the three piece maple neck shows hardly any signs of use. The Ebony fretboard is in great shape as are the frets that have plenty of life left in them. The headstock is in good shape too.
The hardware is in great condition as are the plastics. With the exception of the strap buttons, everything is 100% original just as it left the Nashville factory in 1981.Pots date at week 5 of 1981. Both Patent Number Humbuckers sound fantastic.
The guitar comes with its correct Gibson protector hard-shell case.
Some are quick to discount Les Pauls from this period as blunt instruments, without some of the finesse of their predecessors. This guitar, though this does weigh in at a reasonable for the period 4.85kgs, is still as dynamic and possesses the tonal gravitas that you've come to expect. By no means a PAF loaded burst, this guitar has a tone all of its own that doesn’t disappoint.
Looks and tone to die for, what more could you want?
