Gibson / Les Paul Deluxe / 1973 / Original Cherry / Guitar
This is (in our opinion) by far the BEST colour for a LP Deluxe and also the rarest of this period... We sold another one just last week and we are very pleasantly surprised to have another find its way to us at the recent Kempton Pk Guitar show.
Much maligned but unsurprisingly Gibson's most popular model of the 1970s, the Les Paul Deluxe’s combination of mahogany body and twin mini humbuckers augmented the sonic palette of this classic instrument becoming the touchstone for 70’s tones.
This example just oozes mojo. The cherry looks stunning and has survived remarkably well. Interestingly, only 760 of the 5194 Deluxe’s shipped in 1973 were finished in cherry. The back of the 2 piece ‘pancake’ body is exquisite too.
The three piece mahogany neck shows very little signs of wear. The fretboard is in great shape, the nut is original, and the original frets still have a decent amount of life in them.
Plastics and hardware are in great shape with only some slight wear to be seen on the bridge.
Electronically everything looks correct with pots dated at week 44 of 1973.
The guitar comes with the correct hardshell case.
The unamplified tone has plenty of sustain, as you’d expect from a good Gibson. The mini humbuckers bring a brightness without being as muddy as could be the case with full size humbuckers of the same period.
A stunning guitar that looks and sounds the part. Grab it before it get away…
