Gibson / Les Paul Goldtop / 1952 / Gold / Guitar
Once in a blue moon, a guitar comes in that just takes your breath away. This is one such item and we beleive it is the finest example on the planet…
This is a STUNNING original and MINT museum piece quality, 1952 Gibson Les Paul + OHSC and candy It is in my opinion, the cleanest one you will see. It has been owned for 30 odd years by a world famous Les Paul expert who has written 3 books on 50’s Les Pauls and he bought it from it’s original owner.
It comes with the original Glieb brown/pink hard case plus the tags you can see pictured. It is MINT, most people wuld say mint and I am loath to use this term but it is so close as you will get to mint I am going to describe it as such. If you examine it under a microscope, with dazzingly bright light, you will see a tiny amout of corrsion on the pickguard bracket and only at the right angle, you can see very small amount of checking by the knobs and one 2mm clearcoat ding on the back of the body by the neck. That is it!
Needless to say it is 100% original - not a thing has been altered.
There is no fret wear and no fingerboard wear, everything is perfect, just as it left the factory 63 years ago. Included is a guitar tutorial book from the 50’s but looks as if whover bought this didn’t learn to play that much! In fact at first you would be forgiven for thinking it is a brand new re-issue the finish is so gleaming and the back is shiny like a new guitar. It plays like butter and sounds as sweet as honey. No really… it does! There are many dodgy, old and not brilliantly set up 52 gold tops out there this is not one of them and if you are going to play it, you will find it is a joy to play.
There can’t be many that exist in this spectacular, original condition with no greening anywhere. Have a look at the many photos on here or on my website as they will tell the full story.
This must be a mid-late 1952 model as it is transistional features and parts - bound fingerboard but still has hex tuner ferrous, no serial number, long style knobs etc. Guitar is a lovely balanced instrument and weighs in at just 3.7Kg
VERY RARE to see a first year Les Paul as good as this if you are a serious collector looking for a ’52 goldtop it doesn’t get much better than this…
So what’s not to like - the price maybe? Well make an offer if you like but when you do bear in mind exceptional, time capsule pieces like this just never come up for sale...
