Here's an awesome Gibson Les Paul Model Goldtop -56 in excellent condition!
No cracks or repairs on body or neck.
Pickups are the original P90s with matching creme colored frames.
Electronics are untouched and all original.
The bridge is the Gibson ABR "non wire" bridge with metal saddles and behind it it has an aluminum stop tailpiece.
The decal is the pearl logo with open "b" and "o" as used from 1948-1956.
Knobs are the Bonnet knobs as used from 1955 to mid-1960.
The pickguard is the creme color 0.09 inch thick plastic pickguard with correct mounting bracket.
4 of the tuners are "No Line" Kluson tuners with no vertical name marking on the exterior gear cover. On the bottom side of the tuners stamped into the metal it says "2356766 PAT. APPLD. These tuners were used 1953 to 1956.
2 of the tuners are so called "Single Line Tuners" wich show "Kluson Deluxe" in a single vertical line on the ribbed metal tuner cover. On the bottom side of the tuners stamped in to the metal it also says "2356766 PAT. APPLD". These tuners were used from 1956 to 1958. As in 1956 both types of tuners were used, they sometimes can be found "mixed" - as in this case. The imprints in the wood of the headstock fit exactly to the tuners.
The switchcraft toggle-switch, the catalin-switch tip and the rythm/treble switch plate are original.
In overall the finish is in excellent condition with some typical playing wear.
On a spot between the tailpiece and the bodys end someone tried polishing the guitar and polished some of the clear coat and at one point some of the gold away.
It's been refretted with a professional original style refret.
The case is a 50s Gibson Lifton 5-latch Les Paul hardshell case. It shows the inscription "Dudley" on one side - unfortanley it is unknown who "Dudley" was.
