Gibson / Les Paul Personal / 1971 / Guitar

Gibson Les Paul Personal from 1971, all original with pots dating back to 1970. There is very little information about this model on the internet and that's not surprising since only 146 Les Paul Personals were ever produced. Despite this, these are extremely well-made and beautiful guitars, with lots of character. This was the top of the line model with a bound ebony fretboard, gold hardware and fancy headstock inlays. The body is crafted tfrom 2 pieces of mahogany, joined "pancake" style with a 3-piece neck and a 5-piece headstock.  Like many Gibson guitars from the era it has nylon saddles in the ABR-1 style bridge. Its most distinctive feature however is the XLR microphone jack mounted on the upper bout. This was Les Paul's idea, and is probably why this was named the "Personal". The two low-impedance humbucking pickups generate a signal with a wide frequency range; The top end is noticibly brighter than a Strat's, and there are some similarities to the range of a piezo pickup, although it's a more midrange, less "hollow" sound. A gibson AD1 inline impedance matching transformer cable (which had to be used to plug straight into an amplifier) has been built into the control cavity of the guitar so you can use a regular cable. The controls include a phase switch, a decade switch (an 11-position rotary switch that sends the signal to ground through different values of capacitors), 3-position tone switch (position 1: both pickups with decade, fixed valuecapacitor and resistor position 2: treble and bass cut, decade, pickup selector  Position 3: pickup selector, decade), treble cut, bass cut, 3-way pickup selector, xlr volume. It goes without saying that this instrument has contained within it a very wide variety of great sounds! Condition is "Very Good"; Expected playwear and signs of use, weatherchecking, Gibson AD1 inline impedance matching transformer built into control cavity, 18-21st frets are scalloped. Includes vintage perfectly fitting hardshell case with checkered interior. Consignment. ABOUT US

I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
