Gibson / Les Paul R0 VOS ** ON HOLD ** / 2007 / Cherry Sunburst / Guitar

I just love seeing a guitar with mineral deposits on the face. I think for whatever reason, it just looks more authentic, or maybe just more real. I remember a few years back, I was driving up 400 (a highway North of Atlanta) and of course was listening to a little "Walk this Way" by Aerosmith when my groove was suddenly interrupted. Duh Duh Duh Ding, Duh Duh Duh Ding. "Hello. Grinningelk Music, This is Lee" I answered. "Hey man, this is James. You know, I play guitar and sing a little in this band called Metallica", the voice said. So I says, "Yeah, I think I might of heard of you- how can I help you?" So he says, "Hey man, I would like to buy that '58 Les Paul on your site. I dig the mineral deposits on the face." I replied, "The one on hold?" "Yep," he said and there was my dilemma; James Hetfield wanted to buy a guitar from us, but it was already on hold. Do I go against my word and sell to this little known guitarist from California or do I remain true to the one who already spoke for it? Well folks, I decided to take the high road, or to be honorable if you will. I told James, "We'll have to catch you next time," but the prospect of selling a guitar to the mighty "Het" was a little tempting. To become that very thing we all loathe- the "sell out". This '07 R0 isn't the same guitar that James called about, but it has the same figuring characteristics. On the other hand, this guitar has a 60's neck profile (Hey, good enough for Slash, good enough for me)! It's well- balanced and the '57 Classics roar. It's also in the condition you've come to expect from us here at the 'Elk: clean, clean, and oh yeah, clean. So if you are looking for the guitar of your dreams, we know all about it and that's exactly what we do here. We are the Dream Weavers of guitar dealers and come to think of it, wasn't that a song in the 70's? Heck, I don't know. I do a lot of peyote lately...
