Gibson / Les Paul R9 / 2001 / Sunburst / Guitar For Sale
This came to us without any paperwork or COA etc so we sent pics of this to Gibson who told us this is a R9 made in 2001.
We think the harness has been replaced and maybe the pickups too, they have been wax potted on the underside to help we guess with feedback problems.
It has been well cared for, the finish looks sensational atop the flamed maple cap. The top has a wonderful three dimensional, multifaceted quality and married to an impressive single piece mahogany body, makes quite the package. There are a few scratches and dinks but nothing too extensive.
As with the body, the single piece neck shows very little signs of use. The grain is wonderfully showcased here. The fretboard is in great shape as are the frets.
The plastics are in good condition. The hardware is slightly tarnished but is in great shape nonetheless. The tailpiece is a Gotoh example
Electrically everything is as you see it in the pictures, it does also sound rather good.
The guitar comes with a hardshell case. It did not come with certification though we do have confirmation from Gibson that it is in fact an R9.
It's a joy to play with a sublime ‘59 profile neck and the ‘57 Classic pickups delivering those wonderful PAF-like tones.
Looks and tone to die for, what more could you want?
