Gibson / Les Paul Special / 1960 / Cherry Red / Guitar

1960 Gibson Les Paul Special with the 1959 pickup spacing in pretty much mint, collector grade, investment condition with correct soft shell alligator case.

A real beauty with ZER0 issues, no neck repairs or cracks of any kind, including those so called ‘stress cracks’ some people like to refer to. Bright, vibrant finish and all correct hardware that gleams like it is just a few months old.

Virtually no fret wear, no fingerboard wear at all and a fingerboard that looks virtually brand new. We do not see them like this very often! Even the tuner buttons have hardly faded. If we are to be very picky, there are a couple of tiny dings here and there and the lettering on the switch poker chip ring has faded a bit. That is it!

And in case you were wondering, it plays brilliantly, like a well set up, brand new guitar and sounds superb too. There is a myth you sometimes read on Internet forums that guitars in ‘under the bed’ mint condition play terribly - this is totally untrue, we have had our fair share of these type of guitars (in fact we actively seek them out). They may need a bit of setting up if they have been stored for some time, but I do not think we have ever come across a vintage, under the bed find, that that is nothing short of magnificent once set up properly and this one is no exception..

Being an early 1960 serial number this cherry loveliness has the same neck profile as a late ‘59 with a medium flat C shape. Pots, solder and all electrics are totally undisturbed as is all the hardware which looks like it has been there from day one. Case is the soft shell gator type case that is in fair condition, a bit of tape holds it together but at least the handle is still intact.

Cannot quite remember the last time we had one of these in store, in this mighty fine condition. Like most of our collector grade, mint vintage stuff it probably will not last very long…
