Updated features of the 2008 Les Paul Standard include an asymmetrical neck profile with an enlarged neck tenon, locking Grover tuners with 18:1 gear ratios, newly designed controls, gold-plated potentiometers by Bourns, TonePros bridge and tailpiece, strap lock buttons, and these guitars are set-up by the Plek system, which is a computer-controlled machine that measures and dresses each fret. I say… My favourite finish (again….) but this Les Paul Standard has a truly stunning three dimensional figured maple top, which appears to be unmarked, and well worth the “plus” designation. The Burstbucker Pro pickups are phenomenal – they scream when you tell them to!! I find that the longer neck tenon gives greater sustain and a more prominent top end that results in a better note definition. The previous owner doesn’t seem to have been very careful with the guitar – or had a rubbish stand! – there are a couple of chips on the rear lower edge of the guitar concurrent with “stand damage.” The rear of the guitar has a few scrapes and dinks – one, that was through to the wood, I have tried to fill with a little success. The neck however was my biggest concern as it seems to have been repeatedly banged against the edge of a table or amp. I have filled the worst of the chips and dinks with some nitro lacquer, and whilst it’s still obvious where I’ve done this work (lacquer matching is near impossible…), the neck now feels smooth and easy to play. All in all a great example of a Les Paul. Articulate and note to note definition is great, there’s a clear attack to each note and the Plek setup neck is just beautiful. The Rosewood fingerboard has quite an open grain, but after a treatment with “Guitar Honey” it feels slick and smooth to play. Beautiful. All electrics are fully functional and Crackle Free, the case is in near perfect condition, and the neck pocket still has the (optional) scratch plate and paperwork. RRP on this was over £2000 when it was purchased. £1250 including UK insured shipping.
POSH Guitars, UK
Philip's Old Second Hand Guitars (POSH Guitars) Has arisen not only out of my indefatigable enthusiasm for all things wooden with strings, but also from my love of music and creativity.
I firmly believe in a Creator God , who in his creativity gave us a gift. That gift being music, and in our expression of music we give voice to our passion for God.
I am not a company, but I buy guitars of a high quality, use them for a while and then sell them on. Sometimes this allows me to make a small profit, and I shift that profit on into financing the supply of quality instruments for Christian Musicians who are actively working in a recognised Church fellowship.
In this regard I'm happy to announce that Harvey Gerlitz has allowed me to distribute his Guitar Care Products in the UK, and hopefully through these establish a finance base to expand this mission.
In addition to resourcing Christian worship and creativity, 10% of any profits will be automatically passed on to financing Christian work in Africa, building orphanages to care for the victims of the AIDS epidemic there.
All items purchased will be despatched within 24 hours of received payment. Postage in the UK is by First Class postage, outside the UK it's by Air Mail.
