Gary Rossington, original guitarist for Lynyrd Skynyrd, did this reissue of Rossingtons instrument, which he acquired from a woman whose boyfriend had abandoned her, leaving behind only his guitar. At one point Rossington broke the headstock and used a pair of small screws to repair it. While the new model replicates the screws, it does not replicate the break. The finish on the Rossington Les Paul is aged and well-worn to replicate the original guitar. Other features of the Rossington Les Paul include a figured maple top with one-piece mahogany back and Rossington sunburst finish, nickel-plated 57 Classic pickups, (with the guitar, now replaced for magnificent Amber pickups) aged nickel hardware, a 59 Les Paul neck, rosewood fingerboard with trapezoid inlays and cream pickguard.
This Gibson Les Paul 1959 Gary Rossington Murphy Aged limited Custom Shop, GR #137, would be falling in the category collector owned 'near mint & aged'. Features include Beautiful faded cherry burst. Now the flame on the Gary Rossington guitars is mostly modest, replicating the original, but on this one it's just a bit more flame than average, exquisite Aging by Tom Murphy, back of the head shows Gary Rossington signature, limited stamp and GR-137 engraved, body shows details Rossington Playwear and wonderful ageing work and weather checking. Complete with Certificate, Wonderful original condition with very little wear other than originally produced by Tom Murphy, wonderfully light chocolate color grained Fingerboard, that again makes me doubt on the Gibson myth on use of fingerboard material. Original case and case candy included. Also included is the display. A unique features that is included is the shirt. When these guitars were sold back in 2002, the buyer could request a T-shirt from Gibson by sending the proof of purchase. When the owner did, Gibson were out of T-shirts so they had this XXL size shirt specially made for the owner! Weighs in at only 3.9kg (8.5LBS) We made many pics for better detailing.
