This will really blow you away… This is a STUNNING original and RARE 1st year Tune-o-matic bridge 1955 Gibson Les Paul Standard + OHSC and tags It is probably the cleanest one you will see in the world and was just recently prised from the clutches of a well known European collector who is known for his fastidiousness and collection of MINT 100% original examples.

It comes with the original Glieb or Lifton brown/pink hard case plus the candy you can see pictured. This includes a strap, various tags, strings, a pick, 3 sheets of 1956 guitar music and a 1956 Capitol Records LP by Les Paul and Mary Ford. There are just slight areas of wear, mainly on some of the sides and a small ding on the back of the neck (see pictures) that prevent me from describing it as totally mint and as new but overall, I doubt very much if you will ever see a cleaner, version of this 1st year Tunomatic Les Paul Standard…

Case is very clean too, in fact the inside looks almost as new. The outside does have a few scuffs here and there plus a bit by the handle that has taken a bit of a knock by something and some wear on the handle itself. All paint is factory original and the top especially is in amazing condition!

If you are into P-90 equipped Les Pauls then this is the ULTIMATE…. Needless to say, it is 100% original in every way, apart from the strings. It is exactly the same spec as the 1956 Goldtops which is the year more known for having the desirable combination of P-90 and tunomatic. It was a year later in 1957 that they switched over to humbuckers and the rest as they say, is history...

It is hardly played, everything is original, frets have no wear, fingerboard has no wear. It plays like butter and sounds as sweet as honey. No really… it does! There are many dodgy, old and not brilliantly set up 50’s gold tops out there this is not one of them and if you are going to play it, you will find it is a joy to play.
The first year versions of this particular goldtop configuration are rare to come across, it is not known how many were made but there can’t be many that exist in this spectacular, original condition with no greening anywhere. Both pickups sound killer and evenly balanced and guitar is a lovely instrument and weighs in at just 3.8Kg

VERY RARE to see a 1955/6 as good as this if you are a serious collector looking for a ’55/56 goldtop it doesn’t get much better than this...
