This is a Stunning and nearly 100% original - early 1968 Gibson Les Paul Standard Goldtop + oblong OHSC with it's superb, original pickups, pots and all original finish. You do not come across these like this every day and this one must be one of the very first ’68 Les Pauls to have ‘Les Paul’ silkscreened on the headstock as opposed to on the truss rod cover.
It is in excellent condition but has been used and shows normal wear, dings here and there, plus some of the usual checking on the all original finish. It has the most desirable, early 1968 features including all pots (I can read) dated 45th week of 1967, long neck tenon, small headstock with dot on the ‘i’, one piece neck and body plus early style (correct) cavity routing and early 1968 serial number.
It is all original finish, parts and hardware but at some stage other tuners have been on - correct original Kluson Deluxe tuners are now back on and some solder has been touched up in the cavity, not sure why as pots and caps are correct but sometimes dry joints occur and this may be why some of the solder has been disturbed.. it does happen. That is it! Even frets are original and in nice condition and there are no breaks or repairs.
Case is a lovely, original oblong type black Les Paul case with yellow lining that even has the ‘Gibson’ retainer strap still there although some leather has rubbed off of this. Remarkably this case still has it’s original handle which is all too commonly seen broken.
