This is one of those early production Les Paul Standards that have come into their own for their coolness over the last decade. Rare as they are & many unoriginal by now, its hard finding 1 that’s not been screwed up, broken or an early one that’s playable to most people. These 1st issues were born w/a trapeze tailpiece making it quite difficult to play like a normal guitar but alas…you either get used to it or get a genuine example from 1955-57 for double or triple the cost until now… This is a very original 2nd year LP Std. from 1953 having its inked on serial # in place. It was born w/a trapeze tailpiece but now has been setup w/both an original Tun-a-Matic bridge that was shaven down like on a 1958 335 Dot neck to utilize its factory neck angle w/no other mods needed & an added Stop Tailpiece a la 1955. Its original Gold Top finish is in quite excellent shape having some wonderful patina w/out having that splotchy discolored green top that many have from arm rub or sweat wear. Its back & sides are original & its clear nitro is quite clean overall. Its got its original white bound trapizoid inlaid fingerboard w/original frets on a nice fat 1 piece mahogany neck & a 1 piece body. Its loaded w/a pair of factory P-90 pickups that will peal your wall paper off the walls that sound amazing. Its also got its original Kluson Deluxe tuners having both N0-Line & Single Rings. She’s also still sporting her original cream pickgard. She got her original pots but hard to find a date code. Killer lightweight at only 8 lbs. 13 oz. This is a great guitar for that guy that wants to enjoy it for the next 25 years ! Other than a few holes on its lower bottom side from the trapeze, she’s excellent overall & comes w/an original brown tolex/pink lined hard case.
