Gibson / Les Paul TV Special / 1959 / TV Yellow / Guitar
A rare bird indeed.... A real, 1959 Gibson Les Paul Special in TV yellow with no issues, no neck breaks and no repairs!
Full size and gorgeous feeling medium chunky, classic '59 neck profile. Not the flatter '60 profile that you usually see with these. Original everything - frets, solder, finish hardware etc.
In fact the only items that are definitely not original are the strings ;-) and the case which was probably a croc type chipboard that has disintegrated with time... Or maybe it was a 5 latch brown Lifton 'burst' type case that some dealer (not me) sold at great profit.
You just need to observe how close these incredible vintage '59 P-90's are to the strings to realise this guitar is not lacking in the raunch, power or tone department and if this is what you are looking for, this will surely not dissapoint.
As you can see it is not a museum piece which is a good thing as this guitar begs to be played. Conversely, it has not been abused either and all the characterful nicks, dings and marks you can see are due to good old honest play wear.
Weight is a super spine friendly 3.6Kg, original frets have some good life left in them and it plays really well. We can not see any issues or replacements of any parts at all on this amazing guitar which was originally purchased from one of Japan's most respected vintage dealers.
We have seen so many of these early '59 Specials with breaks, touch ups and neck sets - as you are probably aware these first generation Specials were a bit of a delicate flower due to the position of the neck pickup but this one is a mighty fine and rare example.
One of the best.
