Gibson / Mitown Standard Bigsby / 2011 / Black / Guitar

The Blue Book says…. MIDTOWN STANDARD BIGSBY (MODEL DSDC) - symmetrical double cutaway ES-335-style chambered semi-hollow mahogany body, maple top, two f-holes, white body binding, set mahogany ’60s-style SlimTaper neck, 22-fret bound rosewood or richlite fingerboard with mirror dot inlays, black headstock overlay with MOP Gibson logo, three-per-side Keystone tuners, TonePros Roller tune-o-matic bridge, Bigsby B-70 vibrato tailpiece, two covered humbucker pickups (neck: ’57 Classic, bridge: ’57 Plus Classic), two white knobs (v, tone), three-way pickup switch, chrome hardware, available in Ebony or Faded Red finish, 24.75 in. scale, hardshell case included, mfg. 2011-present. I say…. Ok – a 335 it is not – a Les Paul it is not – but it has some qualities of both.  The sound is definitely more “Les Paul” than 335, the solid construction mahogany body is probably the source of this.  The richlite fingerboard looks a lot like ebony, and has a similar feel, the “mirror dots” would look amazing on stage!  The ’57 Classic pickups are bright and articulate, and the simplistic layout of controls does have some appeal.  The Bigsby looks amazing, and works great for Jazzy or “rock ‘n’ roll” wobbles – but it’s never going to dive bomb like Eddie et al. complemented by the “Tonepros” roller bridge it does stay remarkably well in tune.  The Black nitro finish has a few scratches – all light swirl marks from cleaning, but nothing too major.  The worst mark looks to me like “stand damage” on the back of the body just below the neck join. The guitar comes with a gibson original case that is in equally good condition. and still has the paperwork in the neck pocket. £950 including UK insured shipping.

Philip's Old Second Hand Guitars (POSH Guitars) Has arisen not only out of my indefatigable enthusiasm for all things wooden with strings, but also from my love of music and creativity.

I firmly believe in a Creator God , who in his creativity gave us a gift. That gift being music, and in our expression of music we give voice to our passion for God.

I am not a company, but I buy guitars of a high quality, use them for a while and then sell them on. Sometimes this allows me to make a small profit, and I shift that profit on into financing the supply of quality instruments for Christian Musicians who are actively working in a recognised Church fellowship.

In this regard I'm happy to announce that Harvey Gerlitz has allowed me to distribute his Guitar Care Products in the UK, and hopefully through these establish a finance base to expand this mission.

In addition to resourcing Christian worship and creativity, 10% of any profits will be automatically passed on to financing Christian work in Africa, building orphanages to care for the victims of the AIDS epidemic there.

All items purchased will be despatched within 24 hours of received payment. Postage in the UK is by First Class postage, outside the UK it's by Air Mail.
