Gibson / SG Custom / 1968 / Polaris White / Guitar
Not often seen which is a shame as these are real beautiful guitars, especially in this polaris white finish.
1968 Gibson SG Custom. It has been re-finished in a very nice polaris white. Re-fretted with large frets and has repro knobs on it and a newer Gibson gold ABR-1 bridge apart from that it is original!
It also includes the original hard case with a broken but mended handle but at least it is original.
All original electrics with un-opened PAT Number pickups. All pots are original and the ones I can read are dated 1968. Due to the refinish, solder has been disturbed of course. Original pick guard and all hardware with the exception of the ABR-1 bridge as previously mentioned. Some of the small screws have been changed too.
Recent refret and setup means it plays real well and all 3 pickups are strong and very meaty sounding. Middle position is quite Strat like which makes this a very versatile guitar...
You can see evidence of a jack socket repair under the polaris white which is not uncommon for these guitars. But as you can see by the pics with the pickguard removed, it does not look as if it has had a neck repair.
Quite a rare and it has to be said, underestimated guitar in my opinion from what many consider to be, Gibson's last year of goodness...
