Gibson / SG Custom / 1971 / Walnut / Guitar For Sale
We cannot remember the last time we had one of these... A bat wing pick guar 3 pickup SG Custom from the late 60's early 70's and this one is in 100% original condition, not a thing changed and even has its original oblong late 60's hard case.
This is a 1971 model and must be one of the last before they changed to the uglier and shorter neck version later on in 1971.
In case you did not know, from this era, the Gibson SG Custom in walnut is a stunning guitar with a distinctively vintage aesthetic. Its walnut finish highlights the natural wood grain, giving it a warm, earthy look that stands out from the more common finishes of the era. The body shape has the iconic SG double-cutaway, giving players easy access to the higher frets. This model features a mahogany body and neck, known for its resonance and warm tone, which pairs beautifully with the walnut finish.
Equipped with three original PAT Number sticker pickups, the SG Custom offers a versatile range of tones. These pickups are controlled by a three-way toggle switch, with the neck and middle pickup selected in the middle position to give a sort of phasey sound. This model also has gold-plated hardware, including the distinctive "Lyre" Vibrola tailpiece, bridge, and waffle back tuners, adding a touch of elegance to the guitar. The bound ebony fretboard is adorned with block mother-of-pearl inlays, adding further to its luxurious appearance.
This guitar is known for its fast-playing neck profile, which is a slim taper, and a comfortable 24.75-inch scale length. The combination of high-end appointments, unique finish, and classic SG sound makes the 1970 Gibson SG Custom in walnut a coveted instrument for players and collectors alike.
No idea when we will see another in this condition and 100% original...
