This is the most unusual SG Custom we have ever seen & we never knew Gibson made one like it during this transitional period, its Dark Walnut finish is very rich looking, its ebony fingerboard w/pearl block inlays looks beautiful below its Les Paul Custom inlaid headstock, it has all gold hardware w/ribbed back Kluson tuners, it has 3 pat.# stickered Humbucking pickups w/”Gibson” embossed covers, but what makes this so unusual is at that time Gibson made all of their SG’s with a raised 4 layer pickgard & front loaded electronics having all knobs & switches inside a ½ circle shaped cover to match, pots date to the 15th week of 1972, not very accepted by any SG fan at that time & within a year or so they went back to their normal back loaded construction, add to that she has a Bigsby Vibrato unit, this is the only one we have ever seen during our 25 years in business, other than having 6 tiny little holes filled on the back of the headstock from shallers once on it, she is now 100% original & exceptionally clean overall, she also comes w/its original black tolex hard case.
