The Gibson SG was invented in 1960, replacing the original Les Paul Std. as a lighter weight alternative to the heavyweight Les Paul model. This SG Jr. started out as their entry level model w/1 P-90 pickup that’s become a favorite of players worldwide. This example is the last of the best SG Jr’s from 1964. Its beautifully faded see-thru Red finish is what this is all about. Its 1 piece mahogany body & neck feel delicious as its necks fade is proof of its past success story from its last caretaker. Its loaded w/a single super powerful black dog-eared P-90 pickup that all guitar players need in at least 1 of their arsenal of guitars. Its black multi-laminated pickgard shows only 1 tiny chip missing. She has her original pots dated to 1965 w/a pair of cool silver capped knobs. Its all nickel hardware is quite faded a bit as expected. Its back strap button is in its case. It’s still sporting its original Kluson open back 3-on-a-side tuners. This is a great guitar for that guy that wants to enjoy it for the next 57 years ! She’s just 5 lbs. 11 oz. w/killer sustain & tone qualities. What a package for any serious collector. Other than 1 tiny crackle on the back under its heel area that is super stable (see-photo), she’s 100% original & comes in a nice later Brown Tolex hard case.
