Gibson / SG Special / 1966 / Polaris White / Guitar
Very nicely priced 1966 Gibson SG Special in it's original polaris white paint complete with the original hard case. So what's the deal?
Although it is difficult to spot, the consensus of opinion seems to be it has had some kind of neck work done at the heal and this area does show some signs of touch up but whoever did this work must have been a bit of a genius as you can barely notice anything amiss - just have a look at the photos...
Aside from that, the bridge has been changed for one with the more modern 3/3 saddle arrangement but apart from possibly the trem arm, that is all the hardware changes I can see.
Neck is a nice chunky 65 feel with a 41mm nut width. Most of the solder looks to be original as is all the electrics with '66 dated pots and 2 x stonking, vintage, mid-60's P-90 pickups.
It plays real well with a super low action on wide frets that have very little wear. Original finish is in nice condition too aside from a few dings here an there, including on the headstock.
A very fine players guitar at an even finer price...
