Gibson / SG Standard / 1969 / Cherry Red / Guitar
Very nice cherry red Gibson SG Standard made in 1969 with original, oblong Gibson hard case.
No breaks or repairs or finish issues. Trem arm is a Gibson Historic item however the Maestro trem unit itself is original. Neck pickup looks to have been out then back in again. Both pickups are correct PAT number, sticker pickups and all pots date to 1969.
Superb playing SG with a nice low action on original wide frets with plenty of meat left. LOVELY feeling neck with a super comfortable heel joint that gets quite chunky towards the upper frets. Hardly any wear at all on this smooth feeling neck which is a rare thing with these SG's - usually they have been rocked... hard!
With the exception of the aforementioned trem arm it has all original hardware, tuners, pickguard knobs etc, Finish is a little faded but still retains some dark cherry in places. As to be expected there are dings and dongs in a few places but amazingly, no severe buckle rash and very little neck wear. Maybe it was used for baroque music recitals...
It does however sound far from Baroque and really does produce classic 60's SG tones from both pickups that you will have heard on many multi million selling records.
There are no touch ups or overspray anywhere and it is a good, honest guitar and if you are looking for one of these, this is a very nice example indeed.
