This is an ultra cool & excedingly rare 1 original owner example of Gibson’s infamous SG “TV” finished Special from early 1961. Its original wheat colored Limed Mahogany see-thru TV Yellow finish is the rarest Custom Color Gibson has ever offered mostly during the 1954-1960 period on the single & double-cut Les Paul Jr’s & Specials, rarely seen post-1960. Its got some pings & dings around its edges yet shows all of its mahogany grain all over. Its 1 piece mahogany body & slim flat neck feel delicious as she plays great. Notice the early 1st type extended heel to body outer back cap of mahogany w/no neck to body seam at all. Its loaded w/2 super powerful Black P-90 pickups that all guitar players need in at least 1 of their arsenal of guitars. Its got a factory installed Bigsby Vibrato unit w/a small factory black pickgard is quite clean sporting a very special ordered “Dog-Bone” Bigsby Bridge w/a cutout into the pickgard edge to secure it to cover its 2 stop bar studs from new. Its Bigsby vibrato plays smooth & precise. She has her original pots dated to 1961 w/4 cool black chrome capped knobs. Its nickel hardware is slightly faded a bit as expected. Also still wearing its original Kluson 3-in-line tuners. We know of only 3-4 other TV Yellow SG’s in existence, 1 of those being an SG Std. TV model that we owned 25 years back. This is a great guitar just acquired from its last caretakers wife owned since 1961. It’s featherweight at 6 lbs. 14 oz. w/killer sustain & tone qualities. She’s 100% original & comes in its original brown tolex/pink lined hard case.
