Gibson / SJ Southern Jumbo Mahogany-Spruce / 1951 / Guitar
Gibson SJ southern jumbo (1951) Mahogany-Spruce, Case,
Gibson SJ, 1951, yes the Aaron Lewis SJ year, approx. 600 were made that year Gibson, and an aged Aaron Lewis Reissue is Listed at over $8000- aged and Signed over $17000, and i'm sure you wouldn't have half the tone of this one! FON #7623-20 dates it to 1951, features Spruce top and Mahogany back and sides, mahogany neck, bound Brazilian rosewood fretboard with double parellogram inlays, this babe is 60 + years old and has very cool Looks, yes it has a few top-cracks that are expertly repaired, but on inspection it shows back and sides are crack-free with one suspect very small repaired crack that is safely under the kerfling. The guitar is all original except for changed kluson style replacement tuners that didn't make extra holes and changed bone saddle (after the neck reset) the bridge is still original due to the timely excecuted neck-reset, it's refretted once with vintage correct frets, and the Bridgeplate is a perfect tight replica, the nut is replaced at one point. It comes with low action and almost full height bone saddle. This is a guitar you would play for hours, since it weighs practically nothing has that beautiful bassy groove and perfect dry vintage tone.
Yes it's a played but very cool guitar, in fact Post war Gibson Southern Jumbos with these oh-so solid repairs and cool worn looks, weatherchecking & great looking patina complemented with that beautiful firestripe pickguard are about the coolest looking and sounding guitars in my book. The playing action is simply perfect, and it has lots of saddle left to alter to your liking, the neckshape of these 1950s era guitars is just about the best you can find, a Firm C shape but not excessive fat, the tone is one of a kind, the guitar is scallop-braced and produces a dry and punchy, warm and loud, impressive tone, it's a great strummer or picker or whatever you want to do with it, it's simply suitable for all styles. Cosmetically a very cool looking guitar and technically an excellent guitar, and despite the battered looks an amazing sounding and easy playing guitar. Specs include 43mm (1 11/16 ") nut width , 628mm (24 7/8 ") scale, 55mm (2 1/8") fingerspacing at the saddle. Exceptional nice sounding guitar, that plays like butter with Later case.

The Fellowship Of Acoustics, Netherlands
ABOUT US
I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
