Gibson / Slash Vermillion Les Paul / 2013 / Vermillion Red / Guitar

The other day, the new Paul Stanley autobiography came out and of course, me, who worships at the almighty alter of Kiss just had to have it. As you may have guessed, I was standing at Borders book store at 9:00am sharp on April 8th. There it was, in the fiction section, that now familiar star staring back at me, beckoning me to move closer. I swear I heard Paul in my head like a mythological siren who lured nearby sailors with their enchanting music and voices to shipwreck on the rocky coast of their island. "No matter, I thought, I just can't wait to get the inside scoop from my favorite front man." (well, we are talking about Kiss). So here I go, I read and then read some more. I found out about on how insecure Paul really was and, I also discovered that the star on his eye was to him as the cape was to Superman. I know, I'm getting there people. What really peaked my interest was when Kiss was looking to replace Ace. You may already know that Eddie Van Halen was interested in the gig for a minute because he and Diamond Dave were less than friendly at that time but what you may not know is that Paul was also talking about this kid who auditioned to fill those legendary 7" inch heels. "The kid" Paul referred to was none other than Saul Hudson, aka Slash. I read this and though (if only to myself) what an interesting marriage that would have been. I pondered on the thought of Paul singing "Night Train" or "Welcome to the Jungle." I also thought about Axl. Would he have made it without his Keith Richards? Would there be a G-N-R? All of this and the fate of G-N-R's groundbreaking "Appetite for Destruction" was indeed in the hands of one Mr. Paul Stanley's hands and therein lies my point; Sometimes things are just left to chance. Like Dio said in "The Last in Line", "The throw before the toss." Now that is some deep shit. I am at a loss for words why Paul decided not to have Slash as a member of KISS, but I can only imagine things worked out for the greater good. Just giving y'all something to to think about here and now I'm gonna eat some mushrooms and bay at the moon. I, too am on a path to a higher conscientiousness. Come on and join me...
