Gibson / Super 400CES / 1960 / Sunburst / Guitar For Sale
Just back in on consignment, an early 1960 Gibson Super 400 CES in its original sunburst finish!
This very rare example of a 'PAF' era Super 400 is 1 of only 24 electric sunburst examples made in 1960. It features an 18" wide body with a carved spruce top, flame maple back and sides, and a 3-piece maple neck with 5ply bound ebony fingerboard.
The guitar retains most of its original parts with exception of a replacement rosewood bridge instead of the abr1, and a professional refret with Gibson size wire.
At some point the back of the neck has had some very light clear overspray over the original finish, and a strap button added to the heel. This is only visible under UV light and looks to have been done to preserve the original neck finish. Otherwise there are NO breaks or repairs whatsoever to the neck and body.
The original PAFs are unopened, and the wiring harness appears untouched as well. The original 'marble' pickguard is in great condition, as are the rest of the original plastics. Other than the replaced bridge, the hardware appears all correct, including the Kluson sealfast tuners and Super 400 engraved tailpiece.
An incredible golden era example of a Gibson Super 400, includes its original Lifton case with replaced handle.
