Gretsch / 6120 Chet Atkins / 1955 / Orange Finish / Guitar
This is 1 of the most popular Chet Atkins models from the very 1st year of production, this affordable 6120 sports its famous “G” Brand yet pre-dates the cow & cactus engraved inlays, its Orange finish is nice other than some 1 long top crack repair from decades ago & having players wear all over, its 2 D’Armond pickups are super smooth & have that fantastic bold tone one can only hope for from these fabulous 6120’s, its factory pearloid Block inlaid ebony fingerboard has no engravings, the back of its neck finish is worn from plenty of enjoyment over the last 65 years, its original Gold pickgard has its signpost areas finish removed, its got Gold hardware having some of its parts refinished in a deeper gold color, it now has Grover Imperial tuners added that work quite well, it still sports her original 1st issue plain knobs w/arrow pointers, its Bigsby metal bridge intonates well & its “V” cutout Bigsby complete its look, its multi-laminted bound body & neck are really excellent w/hardly any chrystalizing other than by its heel area, it could use a new heel cap, its label inside is a bit non-legible, its got untouched electronics, just in from its last 30+ year ownership, she comes with a decent hard case.
