Hagstrom / Swede Bass / 1974 / Trans Red / Bass
The one thing that first surprised me about this bass is how active and bright it sounds. Maybe it's the ebony fretboard or the density of the body wood, but I immediately fell in love with it's commanding tone. There is just no denying the quality of these early 70's Swedish Hagstroms and that very well may be the reason they are still so coveted today. I hear my business partner say all the time, "If an old guitar has some playwear, it must sound good" and that is certainly the case here. There is some playwear on the back, but that only tells me that this bass has seen some good time onstage somewhere, roaring out a massive bottom end. I like everything about this bass, and if you dial the front pickup down, you get this incredibly barky, mid- range tone that sounds very close to a great, fretless "mwah". Better than any Fender Jazz in the place and guaranteed to cut through any stack of Marshalls on the planet! Finally, the package includes the incredibly rare Hagstrom owner's manual, tool kit and key. Now that's nice accompaniment to an already great bass, so please call or email for any additional photos or details on this boomer. You all should know by know that Swedes just don't last long around here, especially the tall, blonde ones...
